Japanese Culture and Music Festival

The Japanese Culture and Music Festival aims to promote that country’s music, gastronomy, traditions, culture and performing arts. A gourmet area includes eight booths to showcase Japanese cuisine as well as that nation’s desserts, packaged food products, coffee, tea and other beverages. Japanese and local bands are appearing on stage while other cultural performances are also scheduled, including martial arts demonstrations. Visitors and locals can also try on a yukata, a piece of traditional Japanese clothing similar to a kimono, and pose for souvenir photographs, as well as write their wishes on painted ema – small wooden plaques – used in Japanese shrines. They can also practise Japanese calligraphy, admire handcraft products or even sign up for a workshop on temari, a form of folk art for making embroidered balls used as toys or gifts.
