Marine and Water Bureau Day Activities

To celebrate the Marine and Water Bureau Day, the government department is hosting a range of activities throughout July. It includes the opening of the Guia Lighthouse – part of the UNESCO-listed Historic Centre of Macao, and usually off limits to visitors – to the public every weekend during the month. Entry to the Maritime Museum is also free of charge on selected days in July. During those selected days, visitors can also try their hand either at: guiding remote-control model boats in water next to the museum’s esplanade; or joining a workshop to create a stand for their mobile phone. Alternatively they can enjoy an exhibition about Macao’s wetlands also at the museum’s esplanade. For the Marine and Water Bureau Fun Day (Jul 15th), the Government Dockyard grants visitors the opportunity to board one of the bureau’s vessels or have their photograph taken next to a water scooter. Several game booths are also available on the site at the Fun Day, to help visitors learn more about the Marine and Water Bureau, as well as about maritime safety and water conservation. In addition, there are boat rides available across the Inner Harbour over two consecutive weekends.
