Macao's December calendar is packed with memorable events, as the city marks 25 years since its return to the motherland. A highlight is Light up Macao 2024 in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region (Dec 7th – Feb 28th, 2025), set to bath the city in festive lights. Stunning installations and immersive light shows will turn the urban landscape into a wonderland, captivating visitors of all ages.
For a taste and feel of the Christmas spirit, the Tap Seac Christmas Market (Dec 16th – Jan 1st, 2025) is the perfect place to go. Enjoy seasonal treats and create lasting memories with family and friends in this enchanting holiday setting.
If sports are more your thing, Macao has plenty to offer, with a top selection of events this December. It includes NBA Legends Celebrity Game Presented by Sands China (Dec 7th) and 2024 MGM Macau Tennis Masters (Dec 24th-25th).
As 2024 draws to a close, the city will welcome 2025 with a "bang". The New Year's Eve Countdown Events (Dec 31st) series has two exciting opportunities to usher in 2025 to the sound of live music.

A new month, a new year! Don't be dazzled by the name – Light up Macao 2024 (until Feb 28th) bridges cultures and the calendar, illuminating the city with spectacular and vibrant displays. Welcome 2025 in style, with light installations generating an enchanting mood for young and old.
This time around, January also marks Lunar New Year. As the Chinese Zodiac transitions from the Dragon to the Snake on January 29th, Macao will be abuzz with time-honoured celebrations and events. The Lunar New Year Market 2025 (Jan 22nd-29th) is a must-visit, with an assortment of treats and traditional goods.
A highlight of the festivities will be the Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Snake (Jan 31st and Feb 8th), taking to the streets with spectacular floats and performances bustling with energy. Also not to be missed are the Chinese New Year Fireworks Displays (Jan 31st, Feb 4th and 12th) and the 2025 Chinese New Year Activities (Jan 29th-30th).
