A-Ma Belief and Customs is one of the intangible cultural heritage gems of Macao. The century-old Festival honours A-Ma, the Goddess of Seafarers, through various thanksgiving rituals and performances originally performed on fishing vessels. On A-Ma’s birthday (19/4) the community and visitors can witness these in the environs of Barra Square. Lion Dance, Traditional Rituals and other Celebration Activities (17/4, 3:00pm) as well as Cantonese Opera performances (17/4, 7:30pm; 18-21/4, 1:30pm and 7:30pm) are highlights of this traditional festive event.
