The Festival celebrates that country’s New Year and sees off the old by sprinkling water and offering prayers. On the first day of the Festival (22/4), monks pray and distribute blessed rice (12:00 noon) followed by a Blessings Parade (1:30pm), while the Myanmar and Southeast Asia Cuisine and Cultural Festival (12:00 noon to 10:00pm) features booths of tempting southeast Asian fare, while Folk Music and Dance Performances (7:30pm) will get you in the groove.
Highlights of the Festival include the Festooned Vehicle Parade (22/4, 10:00am to 12:30pm, 2:00pm to 4:00pm; 23/4, 10:00am to 1:00pm, starting in front of the Hotline Building, Alameda Dr. Carlos d’Assumpção) and the Water Festival Carnival (23/4, 9:30am to 5:00pm, Taipa Houses). In addition, an exhibition (22-24/4, 10:00am to 10:00pm, Man Hou Gallery, 1st Floor at the Plaza Restaurant) which showcases photos of the Festival and the culture of Guangxi will add even more colour to this exotic funfest!
