Macao is set to host a wide array of events in March, as the city celebrates spring's arrival. This month's programme includes colourful community fetes and fairs, religious events, live music, art, literature and many seasonal favourites.
The Year of the Dog is now in full swing, and with it come two traditional Chinese celebrations: the Opening of the Kun Iam Storehouse (Mar 12th-13th), a place locals go to in hope of a plentiful year ahead; and the Feast of the God Tou Tei (Mar 18th), with its traditional Lion Dance.
Macao's Indian community brings to town the Holi Festival (Mar 4th) and its coloured powder-throwing celebrations. Later, sitar virtuosa Anoushka Shankar presents a one-of-a-kind concert (Mar 20th) at the Macao Cultural Centre.
Toward the end of this month, the Procession of the Senhor Morto (Mar 30th) hits the streets of Macao to commemorate Easter.
Circus arts go high-tech in "Bosch Dreams" (Mar 18th), a contemporary circus show featuring three-dimensional projections of elements from the peculiar universe created by Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch.
