January 2017

All Around the City

Hello 2017! And welcome to the Chinese New Year of the Rooster, which falls at the end of this month. Ever popular, the annual tradition of the Chinese New Year's Eve Flower Market is sure to continue to be a great draw, while many families will see what the Incense and Pinwheel Stalls can provide by way of luck for the year. Meanwhile, the Golden Dragon and Lion Parade, the Lion Dance Competition, Firework Displays and the Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Rooster will leave no-one in any doubt that the Rooster is here for the next twelve months! And neither will the streets, parks, shops and hotels, which will all be decked out in a sea of red and gold decoration.

Families can meet Macao's Giant Pandas' newborns plus the new Red Pandas in scenic Seac Pai Van Park. Not to mention getting a kick out of the challenging interactive adventures provided by the Kung Fu Panda Academy.

Several outstanding events are lined up for this special month; namely, the abstract but always entertaining 16th Macao City Fringe Festival, Macao Orchestra's Starry Vienna, Beethoven and his Transition and Piano Encounter, Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra's New Year's Concert and the much-loved seasonal classic of 'The Nutcracker' by the Hong Kong Ballet. More must-see entertainment includes Riverdance, Viva Broadway, GOT7 Macau Fanmeeting and The House of Magic.

And whether you're on your own or with friends or family, remember: all the major events, parades, museums, concerts, art galleries, heritage sites, restaurants, hotels, and more, are no further than a download away from the many apps dedicated to making life ever more convenient for Macao's valued visitors.
